What is the purpose of Blockanime?
Blockanime is a digital collectibles platform which will be accessible through a web app. Selling NFT collectibles from officially licensed anime & manga, available to purchase via packs. A pack will include a mix of artwork & trading cards from the licensed partner, each varying in scarcity. All trading cards are supercharged with metadata (stats) to be used in future challenges & games. With over 18,000 anime produced to this date, and many more manga published worldwide, at Blockanime our aim is bring all great anime & manga to a single platform and build ecosystems around them, for them to flourish.
What Blockchain is it on and why?
We are built on the Flow Blockchain. Flow is a great blockchain due to its security and the user-friendly experience it provides. With no gas fees and easy to buy options with fiat/crypto. Flow is also an eco-friendly blockchain with its proof-of-stake network. Flow makes the whole experience fun & simple for the user.
What partnerships have you got and what’s planned?
Our first partnership is a special manga- Gatherer of the Birds (Birds Gatherer) from Eastern Europe. Created by a multiple winner of the International Japanese Manga Comics Competition, Nataliia Rerekina. Originally created in Russian, this manga has also been translated to Japanese & English due to its success and won the bronze prize at the 14th International Japanese Manga Comics Competition. Our second drop is a very popular, action Web-comic (Manhwa). Boasting over 35 million views and over 775K subscriptions. Great trading cards, artwork and games will be available within the ecosystem. More information on this will be released after our first partnership drop.
With thousands of anime/manga studios and publishers worldwide, we have been in contact with multiple big-name studios for their licensed IP over the last 6 months. Talks have been successful, and the studios want to see a working web app with initial successful drops, which is something we are working towards.
How do these deals work regarding licensing, rights etc?
For our initial drops, we have a licensing agreement in place. Which gives the NFT holder a royalty free license to use, copy and display their NFTs for the purpose of their own personal, non-commercial use. They also have the right to sell, trade, transfer, or use their NFTs. Licensors have agreed that they will not and will not cause another to sell, tokenize, or create another cryptographic token representing the same digital artwork available on the platform.
NFT holders, however, do not own the creative work itself, and do not have copyrights, trademarks, or any other intellectual property rights.
Intellectual Property
The original IP holders (licensors) owns all legal rights, title and interests in all intellectual property rights underlying the digital collectible assets.
As some of you are aware, Japanese licensing is complicated and can come with certain restrictions regarding location, depending on the IP (anime/manga). More information regarding specific rights will be released with each partnership.
Latest Updates
As we get closer to releasing the web app and our first drop. We wanted to implement a system where we give back to early supporters and holders. Which is why we are implementing a benefits and rewards system.
For the OGs in the discord:
-Priority access for certain drops. As Blockanime is a platform that will be the home to many great anime & manga, our OGs will have earlier access and whitelisting to specific drops (for some, our very own, anime influenced PFP drop).
-Exclusive giveaways and competitions in the OG channel to win prizes such as packs & trading cards.
-OGs will have exclusive voting rights on certain themes, including, and not exclusive to, where our charitable funds go. Our goal is to keep carbon emissions to zero and help support the independent manga artists. A % of our revenue from pack sales will go towards projects and causes which help support the environment and the independent artists. These will be voted by the community.
500 OG spots were given to the early supporters within the clans. We still have 500 OG spots to give out. These will go to members within the discord who are active and support us in this early stage- more information on this will be released on the discord.
